Using a LinkedIn company to get closer to your audience

If you are a small business owner, you have probably heard of LinkedIn. But have you ever thought of using the LinkedIn company pages as a way to reach your target audience? LinkedIn has become an important tool for small businesses to reach their potential customers. In this blog post, we’ll explore how to use a LinkedIn company page as a small business.

What is a LinkedIn company page?

LinkedIn is a social networking site that allows you to connect with people in your industry, build your professional network and promote your brand. But did you know that it also has an incredibly powerful tool for businesses? You can create a branded company page on LinkedIn. This is a great way to reach potential customers or new employees. Besides, it can be used to share information about what you do and how your business operates.

Why you should consider creating a company page

In today’s digital age, our customers expect us to be available through multiple (online) channels. Perhaps you recognise it in your own behaviour, that you look for information on potential partners or companies which you are considering to buy from, on a variety of social media channels besides their website. Social media channels for businesses create this amazing opportunity to get closer to your audience and create an engaging following (tip: see the blog post on 10 must-know marketing tips for small businesses). A LinkedIn company page is not just a great addition to your Facebook, Instagram or TikTok accounts, it also allows your brand to portray itself in a different light. LinkedIn is typically known to be a more “business professionals” focused platform, and it therefore is an important tool in your marketing mix. Besides, as a small business owner you are most likely using your LinkedIn profile already to promote your business activities, and your designated LinkedIn company page will provide the perfect platform to expand on this communication.

How do you get started?

The first step is to create a company page on Linkedin. To do so, click “Work” in the menu on the top of the screen. Then click “Create Company Page.” You will see multiple options, but you want to get started with the first option “Company”.  You will be prompted to enter some information about yourself, including what industry you work in, what kind of products you sell and more. Try to add as much information as possible, you can always edit your details later on.

The next step is setting up a cover image and filling out the rest of the details (if available). Make sure to use your logo as main image of your profile, so people can easily recognise that the content on their timeline comes from your business (this might seem like common sense but trust me—it makes all the difference). After that, you want to start inviting your personal network to follow your company page. You are now set-up and ready to start creating engaging content!

Creating content for LinkedIn

Starting out with a brand new company page might be a little overwhelming. But don’t worry! Here are a few content ideas to get started:

  • Posts about what you offer in general
  • Video material on your product/ services
  • Show your followers what is going on behind the scenes
